The Castle Hot Springs Via Ferrata adventure course provides guests the exclusive opportunity to explore the majesty of the Sonoran Desert from a position few are able to experience. Gain a new perspective hiking past soaring Saguaro cactus, learn to move over rock, and walk across a 200-foot long aerial walkway high above a canyon floor.
So, what exactly is a Via Ferrata? Translated, it is Italian for ‘Iron Way’ and is a system that uses ladders, rungs and steel cables affixed to the rock which allows you to ascend into a mountain environment. There are only a handful in the U.S. and this course was designed specifically for Castle Hot Springs. We use state of the art equipment and have trained guides to assist throughout your experience. We move at your pace and offer a custom progression that allows you to advance at your own comfort level.

AERIAL WALKWAY
The Castle Peak Via Ferrata provides a real mountaineering experience. Much less technical skill is required compared to rock climbing. Feel the thrill of scaling our 400-foot tall peak that provides amazing views of the surrounding peaks. Moderate to advanced fitness level and mental agility is needed. This adventure includes the summiting of Castle Peak. Finish with a hike back down to the Resort to enjoy some well deserved relaxation.
Difficulty: Difficult
Length: 3 – 3.5 Hours
This may just be the most interesting ‘walks’ in the west! First, take a gradual hike through the Saguaros as you make your way to the Castle Creek Aerial Walkway! This 150ft high walkway provides sweeping views of the Sonoran Desert – not recommended for those with a fear of heights. Your guides will give you a complete overview of the safety system required to clip in and walk across the walkway. Afterwards, hike a trail packed with history, stopping to discover two sets of petroglyphs!

Length: 2 Hours
